Seattle City Light X Starbucks X Treehouse

A collection of work I have done for the Greenest Utility in the Nation
Small Town. Big Fire. Only One Way Out. Can They Escape... Safely?
Seattle City Light presents Escape from Diablo, a 11-minute safety awareness educational video. Created and produced by City Light employees, the video uses humor to highlight emergency evacuation procedures for the towns of Diablo and Newhalem, both part of our Skagit Hydroelectric Project.

My internship at Seattle City Light has provided me with many opportunities and connections in the city of Seattle. From helping make a blockbuster safety film, to utility campaigns, and other design/multimedia projects, I am very grateful to have been an intern. Please like this collection if you enjoyed and/or saw any of these displayed or worn in Seattle!
Winner of the J.D. ROSS AWARD Skagit Valley Film Festival 2018, WINNER BEST DAM SAFETY AWARENESS EDUCATIONAL VIDEO, In Competition: BEST ACTING in a Public Utility Film Based, Escape From Diablo was a safety film of epic proportions. On my first day as a video intern for Seattle City Light, I was tasked to capture that very essence in a movie poster. The movie poster draws inspiration from the 1981 "Escape From New York" production. Taking snapshots from our film, each actor is shown in heroic fashion throughout the movie poster. I even had a chance to act in it as well!
July 20, we hosted the World Premiere in Concrete, WA at the Concrete Theatre. With the theater packed, the audience with shades, everyone was ready to "Watch this movie, SAFELY!" View the pictures within the album.
 NORM THE SAFETY TEE:
Safety Health and Wellness (SHaW Dept.) needed a shirt design for the volunteers helping at the annual SHaW Fair. Using our mascot, Norm the Safety Cone, I decided to incorporate the cone into the famous "3 stripe" safety shirt for all the volunteers. Re-orders had to be made since many people from the safety fair, and within the utility, wanted a "NORM: SAFETY FIRST," Safety shirt!
TREEHOUSE X STARBUCKS X CITY LIGHT - HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER:
Officially going live on Monday, November 21, with the Make Spirits Bright holiday drive! Participating Starbucks stores: 16 locations. Over 300 gifts and nearly $5,000 donated to Treehouse for Kids!
"SMT store poster is up (and looks amazing), and I’m told tags have been replenished several times already. Posters and tags for other stores will continue to be distributed into early next week... Monetary donations: We are channeling monetary donations to our StarLight team site: www2.treehouseforkids.org/goto/StarLight. A Network message for Monday (will be shared), accompanied by dock monitor and bulletin board content. Content has been “localized” by worksite to highlight nearest stores or online donation options. External communications: A story for Powerlines blog (will be posted) on social media. Donation deliveries: I am coordinating with (Starbucks) to monitor donations to arrange pick-ups and deliveries as needed. Thanks to everyone for bringing this together so quickly. I’m excited to see how much we can raise for Treehouse!" - CHRIS ARMSTRONG | SR. OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST|SEATTLE CITY LIGHT|COM
Two out of the many videos I coordinated and edited during my internship.
City Light held its annual Seattle Family Day at its South Service Center. City Light employees filled the facility with their families, participating in a variety of activities that highlighted different jobs and skills across the utility’s workforce.
Seattle City Light’s Environmental Equity Program partnered with Latino Outdoors for a second year in a row to give Seattle area Latino families a chance to experience the natural world together. Through a Seattle City Light sponsorship, along with contributions from our partners (listed on YouTube), a group of urban families had the opportunity to spend a weekend at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center in the North Cascades National Park Complex. This program is essential to the development of a diverse group of next-generation environmental leaders.
SCL Showcase - THE ALTERNATOR (COMIC BOARD)

My last (music) video for the Greenest Utility in the Nation:
A music video recognizing the hard workers at Seattle City Light. I appreciate the opportunity to work for the greenest utility! Now enjoy this "ENERGY BACK!"
My internship experience at Seattle City Light.
Founded in 1910, Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
